Getting the most light
- Set the brightness slider to 100% before entering fullscreen.
- Turn your device's display brightness to maximum in system settings for the brightest output.
- On OLED screens (most modern phones), white emits light from every pixel — significantly brighter than traditional flashlight LEDs for close-range work.
- On LCD monitors, white screen brightness equals full backlight output — ideal for illuminating a workspace.
When a screen flashlight helps
Dark corners
Illuminate under desks, inside cabinets, or behind appliances without hunting for a torch.
Power outage
Phones and tablets have hours of battery — your screen is an instant backup light source.
Reading light
Prop a tablet to cast soft, diffuse white light over a page or workspace.
Photography fill
Use a second phone or tablet as a fill light source for close-up photography.
A note on heat
Keeping any screen at maximum brightness generates heat. Most devices will automatically throttle if they get too warm. For prolonged use, keep your device plugged in and in a ventilated area.
